Finding Faith in the Trenches

Updated: Apr 25, 2023

SOME ADVICE YOU CAN SAVE FOR THE DAYS WHEN LIFE SWINGS BACK

When life gets tough, it can be easy to lose faith in God. I know that life can be challenging, and sometimes those challenges seem insurmountable. Trust me. If you have followed my journey at all over the last year, you know life be LIFE-IN! But there's a way through —and it isn't by giving up on yourself or God.

In this post, we're going to talk about how you can find your way back to trusting in God no matter what kind of trouble you might be facing.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Psalm 56:3-4

Many people have asked me how I do it. How can I handle difficult situations? How can I get through heartbreak, life changes, job changes, etc.? How can they do the same?

My answer is simple: you can't do it alone. You can only handle it by God's grace and power.

If I had to pull myself out of the trenches of 2022, I wouldn't have made it to 2023. We aren't supposed to do this life alone. Not saying that it is easy. I was disconnected from God for a while. I didn't even know it, but I was searching for a way back to Source. The hard times reveal something deeper in us we often forget exists within. I'm just here to remind you that we have guidance and love given to us from conception. It is your birthright to call on God for strength, power, love and direction. Faith is what connects us to Source and to the power and strength of God.

What is faith?

In English, faith is translated from the Latin root of fidere or "to trust” and from Greek-pisti. As I was writing this I sat with the definition myself. We know what faith means, and we use it casually in conversations all the time. However, I had never researched the word or its actual definition. Once I dove into this topic, I found a definition on dictionary.com that read:

Faith /fāTH/

(Noun)

2. belief that is not based on proof

Not. Based. On. Proof.

That definition hit me. I began to think how important it is to have faith in our lives and trust in God, despite the circumstances we may find ourselves in. Despite the visual depiction of what our current circumstances are telling us. Faith is the key to seeing beyond the physical world you are currently seeing and into the spiritual promise God has given us instead.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you’re struggling to get through it? Maybe you’ve just started your job, on the outs with family, or maybe you’ve been in a bad relationship. Maybe you’re going through a breakup or divorce, battling financial stress, or maybe the world as you know it is coming to an end in another way. Whatever it is that you’re going through, if there is one thing I know for sure, it’s that we are never alone when we face turmoil.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed; for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:!0

It's easy to get caught up in our own lives and forget about what God wants for us—forgetting about what he does for us every day. But when we remember that he's there, ready to help us through whatever comes our way—whatever hardships or struggles—that's when we start to see the true beauty of life…And you can honestly breathe a little easier knowing it’s already handled.

It can be tempting to put our faith in other people (or things) when we feel like things are out of control—but instead we need to trust God and seek him through difficult times.

In life, we come across many hardships and difficulties. The Bible tells us how to navigate these situations. The Bible tells us that we are not in complete control of our circumstances, but rather God is working everything out for our good (Romans 8:28). He is working out His plan in your life, which makes all things work together for good (Philippians 2:14-16). Scripture reminds us that it is not on us to handle alone, and that we are given permission to lay it down.

So what does this mean? It means that if you are going through hardship or difficulty, trust God! Trust Him to work it out for your good—no matter what it takes! He has promised to never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), so don't worry about what happens tomorrow or next week because He has already promised to take care of you through whatever comes next!

It is easier said than done, and when you feel like you are in battle, stop and say a prayer over your thoughts. “God, please help me clear my mind so I can see my situation from your perspective and not my own. I am drowning in despair and I need your help right now to get through it. Help me to find peace in the storm because I know even though it doesn't make sense to me right now, you are working for me and not against me, and for that I say thank you.”

If you're looking for a little inspiration, here are some Bible verses that can help you through the tough times:

- "You shall not be afraid of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you; he will not leave you nor forsake you." - Exodus 14:13

- "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16

- "But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:19

Remember, having faith is essential to living a fulfilling life. When we trust in something greater than ourselves, we can find strength, hope, and peace. We can also find comfort in knowing that God’s plan is unfolding exactly as it should, and that we are never truly alone. No matter what life brings you are equipped to face it all! You can walk boldly in your purpose knowing, “this too shall pass!"

As always, I love you!
